Is Google Calling My Business?

Why is Google calling you? In fact, why is Google calling your business.

Is Google Really Calling Me?

And why are they consistently calling your business asking you to get a handle of your listing.

Well, the hard honest truth is the following.

The answer is that Google IS NOT calling your business. It’s actually other unscrupulous, and industry tarnishing companies that set themselves up to look like they are Google.

Here’s a few things that you might be hearing from “People That Call From Google”

“This is [Insert Name] here from Google and we wanted to talk about your web listing”

” We are Google Small Business Representatives”

–  “This is [Insert Name Here] with the Google Marketing Team”

–  “We are Google Partners and We Want to Help Your Business Rank”

Google will Not Call You out of the Blue. Other “Wanna be Marketing Companies” Pretend to Be Google

Literally everyday, I hear both my existing clients, as well as my potential clients tell me that “Google Calls Them Everyday”. And as it turns out, this is a rather rampant technique.

Worse than anything else, is also the false promises and unrealistic expectations that these companies set. As you might hear some of the following:

– “We can get you on the 1st Page of Google”

– “You can start Google Page 1 Domination”

– “We are Google Partners and Can Get You Ranked Fast”

– “We Work with Google Directly To Get You on Page 1”

– “We are Google Adwords Partners or are from the Google Citation Department to Get Your Listing Higher in Local Search Optimization”

To make an example of one company that is so great at this, would be the following:

“Local Lighthouse SEO Company” or “Local Lighthouse Marketing” (however there isn’t really too much marketing going on outside of their auto-dialer.)

In fact, this company has some very recent heavy litigation pending from Google directly. As it seems that their reach and haphazard promises of empty service were so far and wide, that the Big G themselves threw their shiny colorful letters into the law ring.

As seen here with this Local Lighthouse SEO company lawsuit from Google:

And  if you want to see backup of frustrated business owners, you can ready some of these complaints from around the web:

Local Lighthouse SEO Reviews from Yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/local-lighthouse-tustin-5

So, again, to answer the question “Why is Google Calling Me and My Business“, the flat out answer is that they are not. Not by a longshot. It just turns out to be “Local SEO Companies” like these that tarnish the hard work of people like myself, and other self respecting online marketers and developers.

It’s so very sad too, because with an initial experience like this, it sometimes scares away the true potential a business can have online with a good online business consultant.

But there is a point to be made here, that I’ve talked about, and that the “cheap is expensive” and “being cheap can hurt your business“. Because if you really read some of the “service packages that are offered by companies like:

Local Lighthouse

Local Splash (See my Reviews on Local Splash)

Yodle (See my Reviews and Experience With Yodle)

Then you will see that “low cost SEO or search marketing” is both not effective for you, but also not effective for the lackluster service company that offers to provide them. If you want to know What Does SEO Cost, then you may want to read my piece on that. Because the value you get, is very much determined by the time dedicated to your project in relation to the  monthly cost you are paying. And with the previously mentioned companies, that will “do anything to keep your business”, they will drop it through the floor, which should tell you that their value is just not there.

So, even though it sounds like a great concept to think that “Google may be Calling You”, but the reality is that they probably will just stick to sending you stuff in the mail after you register a domain name.
